More About Hornsey

Hornsey is a district in England or more precisely North London. It is known as the oldest village in London, but still there is many uncertainties about its definition and why they call it Hornsey Village.

Since Municipal Borough of Hornsey was destroyed in 1965, its boundaries and territory are not clearly defined. The name derives from a Saxon’s chieftain called Haering. The area begin to grew after 1860 and eventually merged with the surrounding settlements, such as Crouch End. Hornsey High Street is considered the center of the district.

It is strewn of shops, pubs and restaurants and numbers keep increasing. The first Lotus Cars working factory was established in 1954, also twelve years later in 1964 was found Britain’s oldest credit union – Hornsey Co-operative Credit Union but then, in 2013, it merged together with with London Capital Credit union.

Since the year of 2000 Hornsey’s residential developments have been accommodative and architecturally diversified. It is a district with more than 50 homes and estates.
